I believe his are the JWT spec Arias pistons which are the 4032s. Arias will not sell you JWT spec pistons because of the agreement they have with JWT. I checked into that last year when I was piston shopping. JWT wants to make his near 100% mark-up on those pistons.
I didn't specify what was off the shelf or custom like you pointed out. Thanks for adding qualifers :)For off the shelf Z pistons some use 2618 , some use 4032. But both are offered if you custom order it. I'm sure they buy their billet stock from the same suppliers for 2618 or 4032. Wiseco is much bigger than Aries so I bet they get a better price on their billet stock. Could be why their piston prices are cheaper.
The one you choose is matter of preference . Of course you have to clearance it right to account for different thermal expansion of 2618 vs. 4032. You can't say one is better than the other. That is a subjective statement. Better in what way? There are pros and cons to both 2618 vs. 4032. One expands less but is more brittle. One is stronger but expands more. Choose your flavor of what you want.
